BIOGRAPHY â€‹

I graduated from Shrewsbury High School (in Massachusetts) in 2009, as an AP Scholar. I then attended the University of Toronto, and graduated in 2014 with a bachelor’s degree in Applied Chemistry & Chemical Engineering.

I began my teaching career as an in-home tutor immediately following graduation, after I found a calling for helping others excel academically. My first clients were referrals from big tutoring agencies, such as Club-Z, Varsity Tutors, and Parliament Tutors.

In 2015, I joined renowned tutor Donna Cox at Cox Tutoring Group in Westborough, MA as an associate. After working with Donna and her team for five years and accumulating more than 8,000 hours of 1:1 tutoring experience, I have opened my own online practice to serve students any place, any time.

TEACHING

I'm a private tutor who specializes in one-on-one coaching to improve students’ grades and test scores. While this may sound simple, there's a lot more going on under the hood: empathy, multi-subject matter expertise, and clear communication (both with the student and with you). Why do I list empathy as the first skill? By unpacking any negative feelings about the subject before we start, students can properly get down to work.

My exact specialty is in helping students in Grades 11 - 12 who are preparing for the all-important SAT and ACT exams. I also work with students in Grades 9 - 12 who are looking to improve in their high school Math, Chemistry, and Physics coursework.

Many of my students work with me for multiple subjects, allowing me to better understand the ways in which they learn and develop a plan that works with their learning style. I find nothing in this world more rewarding than watching a student grow, ultimately translating their learning and confidence into improved grades and test scores.

With my students, I do far more than just teach. I nurture a positive and active attitude towards learning with positive feedback - which leads to sustained academic success, then a meaningful higher-education experience, an ultimately an impactful career. Tutoring should be about so much more than just grades - it’s about fostering skills, confidence, and self-reliance for the long term.

I believe that tutoring is an art, meant to be practiced with care and to be constantly perfected. I believe in the power of patience, and I will always let the student set the pace that fits their learning style. I believe in being personable, and I provide a relaxed and cheerful atmosphere that keeps minds open to learning.

I fully understand how difficult and important the decision of choosing the right tutor is, and I am honored that you have come across my practice. I would love to schedule a phone call or in-person meeting where I can demonstrate to you that I have what it takes to help your student thrive academically. After all, you can only learn so much about a tutor from their website.
